Beryl is a mineral composed of beryllium aluminum silicates, which possesses a hard and transparent structure. Its chemical composition is Be3Al2(Si6O18). Colombia has earned its reputation as the world's largest producer of raw emeralds, accounting for an estimated 50-95% of global production, depending on the year and quality. Moreover, between 2000 and 2010, Colombian output consistently increased by 78%.
